A lot of newcomers to yoga often have questions surrounding the vocabulary and styles that surround the world of yoga. By diving more into your practice and understanding the principles surrounding the many styles of yoga, you will be able to follow a path that is best for what your needs and goals are with your practice.
Today we’ll take a look at something we focus on at Yoga Nook, Vinyasa. We’ll break down what it means and the principles and technique that defines it.
Vinyasa means “to place in a special way,” by making the action of your breath encourage movement. It is sometimes referred to as a “Flow,” which means poses are linked together in sequences. It promotes muscle tone and flexibility of the joints, increases cardiovascular and respiratory strength while clearing the body of toxins, leaving you feeling calm and centered.
It’s a dynamic class and if you have never taken a Vinyasa class before we recommend you have a few foundational classes under your belt. Our vinyasa classes are sprinkled about the week so feel free to check out our schedule for the next class! We hope to see you in a class soon!
